Rapper Lil Nas X released "satanic" Nike sneakers with drops of human blood.

Brooklyn- based creative company MSCHF and American rapper Lil Nas X have developed Satan Shoes ("Satanic Shoes"), which, according to the creators, used human blood.

Six employees of the company donated blood, one of the founders of MSCHF, Daniel Greenberg, told The New York Times, answering questions by e-mail. Speaking of who collected the blood, Greenberg wrote, “Uhhhhh. Yes, haha. Not medical professionals, we did it ourselves lol.” Greenberg stressed that "some blood" was used in the production.

Based on the Nike Air Max 97 sneakers, Satan Sacai waffle Shoes has filled the air bubble in the sole with a drop of blood mixed with ink, and a bronze pentagram pendant is attached to the laces. In addition, the sneakers were inscribed with "LUKE 10:18", which refers to the  passage from the Gospel of Luke: "I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning." In total, MSCHF announced the release of 666 pairs of shoes for $1,018 each. The start of sales is scheduled for March 29.

On March 28, Nike announced that they are not affiliated with rapper Lil Nas X or MSCHF in any way. "Nike did not design or manufacture these shoes, and we do not endorse these shoes," a company spokesperson told the NYT.

On the same day, Lil Nas X  released a video titled "Lil Nas X apologizes for Satan Shoes". The video begins with the rapper's monologue, which abruptly ends with footage from his new video "Montero", where the performer is dancing on Satan's lap.

MSCHF released Satan Shoes as a continuation of the Jesus Sacai waffle Shoes line, which used holy water.

Rapper Lil Nas X, aka Montero Lamar Hill, rose to prominence in 2019 with the release of his country rap song "Old Town Road". The track went viral on TikTok, and as a result set a record on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, staying at number one for longer than any other song in history. For this composition, Lil Nas X received two Grammy awards - "Best Pop Duo Performance" and "Best Music Video".

In 2019, Lil Nas X came out by openly calling himself gay. In March 2021, the rapper posted a letter to his 14-year-old self in which he revealed that he promised himself not to publicly reveal his sexuality, but did so because "it will open doors for a lot of other queer people to just exist."
